The PTA is collecting used household items clothes, shoes, sheets, etc...

We are looking for 1 or 2 parents to help with making our holiday gifts on Dec. 18th 9 to 11.  Let me know if you can help.

LA:  Writing test on Squanto on Friday.  The students will be tested on stating the kind of person Squanto was and supporting their character trait by giving 3 examples from the story using the phrase for example when.  They will also be asked to make a personal connection from the text.

The students spent time in the tech lab today researching colonial toys and games.  The students know they must ask your permission before agreeing to the toy.  I have sites on my blog with the Jacob's Ladder for you to get ideas.  Use keywords: colonial, toys, games when surfing the net.

A new Book-It! log went home.  Just color in the book for each night you read for 20 mins.  I will still accept your Oct. Book-It! tomorrow.
MATH:  Complete one side 1-5 only!  We will complete the back in school tomorrow.  This will become your Study Guide for Wednesday's test. 
A also sent home a new monthly math activity sheet to complete for bonus tickets!  It is attached to the Book-It! log.  Keep these two papers at home until Nov. 30th!

SS:  The toy project "compact" (what you're planning on making) is due by Friday!
The report and project will be due on Nov. 26th.

Our field trip to Quiet Valley is still on Nov. 20th.  Start gathering items for your colonial outfits.

The colonial toy project is a great way to explore how toys have changed.  The kids in the past have researched and created toys that were used long ago and have enjoyed using them.  It is nice to appreciate the simple life with all the high tech advancements we have today. This is a great family project.  The toy or game is due November 19th.  Have fun!

STUDY ISLAND

The students have begun working on Study Island in Tech Lab!  This online math program keeps track of student's progress and can be used at home.  It is a great way to expose students to mathematical concepts and skills before the NJ ASK.   The students earn blue ribbons as they master  each skill.  The students know their username and password and can enter the Study Island sight from the OCS Webpage under Student Information.

The Friday Folders are filled!  I put in our spelling test.  Please read the back for an explanation of the format.  Fundraisers were sent home with the youngest sibling.  A medical form for the nurse to be fill out and returned. A reminder for our upcoming Apple Festival with your assigned apple for our taste test.  The apples can be sent in before Thursday.  Please wash them, label the kind and put them into zip locked bag.  Please return any necessary forms and the signed folder you may keep the rest!

Reminder picture day is on Monday.  The money envelopes are due at the time of the picture.

3rd Day in 3rd Grade

Today we celebrated our third day in third grade
with activities using 3's!
The Friday Folders were sent home today.  Please look through them then sign and return just the manilla folder for Monday.  You may keep the papers at home unless it is something to return.  I typically wait for Friday to send home tests, graded activities and important notices.  It is a great idea to review the work inside with your child.  It will give you an idea of how they are doing.

Ocean Night

Friends and Family-
The students have been working on creating a Mangrove swamp and a salt water marsh filled with plants and native animals.  They have a created 3D animal and researched them to display.  We have invited Lauren, Warren county's watershed ambassador, to teach us about pollution in our water supply.   We are looking forward to teaching you a thing or two about the wonderful wetlands on Ocean Night!   Thursday, May 25 at 6pm.
