Thanks so far to the families who have donated trinkets for our "Trick or Trinket" after the Halloween Parade on Friday.
Come to school dressed, but remember no masks or weapons. 

TUESDAY

LA: p. 79 and 80
Hints:  this week's spelling words are not about the vowels you see it is the sound the vowel makes!
Verbs are in the predicate part of the sentence.  Ask yourself what did the NOUN do? to help find the verb.  Verbs are also actions.  Ask yourself can you______(verb)?

Math:  In class, we have been making  a Tally Table/Frequency Table for our surveys.  We will now take our data and create a Picture Graph using a key.  no homework

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Read over the school policies for Halloween.  The parade will be begin at 2:00.  Weather permitting it will be outside.  Our classroom "Trick or Trinket"  will begin immediately after.  Parents are welcome!
Don't forget your small  trinkets(NO FOOD)

LA:  R/R for 20 mins.
We are reading Squanto.  Tell your family what has happened so far. 

MATH:  We have begun a new chapter.  Chapter 2 is about interpreting and representing data.
Review the flashcards in the homework packet nightly.
Complete lesson 2.1 p. 31 and 32

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Red Ribbon Week starts on Monday, October 20th (start looking for a tye dye shirt)

We will be collecting items for our troops that week!

Wear pink tomorrow for Breast Cancer Awareness!

I still need conference slips.  I sent another form home with the kids who I need one from. 

Trip tomorrow

Our trip is tomorrow.  Watch the weather in the morning so you can dress appropriately.  Wear sneakers- there is a lot of walking.  Bring a lunch!  No $ or cameras.  Parents who are coming along:  bring $10 and meet us at the school by 8:45. 

Our 1st Chapter Test in math was taken today.  If there were any areas of weakness your child was given a re-teach page.  These pages must be completed and turned in on Thursday 10/16 for credit and I will re-test them on Friday, 10/17.

Parents:  Please fill out the green conference form and return it in the Friday Folder tomorrow.

Tuesday

 Remember tomorrow, October 8 is Walk to School Day! 
Our Field Trip is this Friday.  Permission slips and $6 are due tomorrow.
Book Fair is Thursday at 9am.

In LA we are reading Squanto, and because of the short weeks (field trip and Columbus Day)  we will not have spelling or grammar.   

The Math Test on adding and subtracting is Thursday.  Tonight and tomorrow night's homework will act as a study guide.

Family Night at Friendly's in Phillipsburg tonight.

After completing our story, Pop's Bridge and learning about the different types of bridges, the students had the chance to create bridges while stressing the idea of working together.

Wear TEAL to show awareness to Ovarian Cancer on Monday.  Ribbons will be given out on Monday with a donation of 25 cents or more.

Our trip to Waterloo...

We are going to Waterloo Village to experience life in early America on Friday, October 10th.

I am sending home permission slips in the Friday Folders this week.  I will need the permission slips and $6 (in cash) by 10/8.

1.There is NOT a gift shop at the village, so there is no need to bring money. 
2. I will be taking lots of pictures, so the kids do not need a camera.
3. There will be a lot of walking, so wear sneakers.
4. Bring a light coat that can be easily put on and taken off as needed.  The trip is indoors and outdoors.  Watch the weather report in the morning so you can dress appropriately.

We have our chaperones already, but parents are welcome- bring a $10 admission fee.  Please let me know if you plan on going and if you will be riding the bus ASAP.  Thanks
