Wetland Bird Project

Wetland Bird Project
Create a realistic model (not life size) of your bird.
Focus on the beak!

Try and use recycled materials from your home as much as you can.

The bird will be displayed in the proper wetland habitat (salt water or fresh water marsh, mangrove swamp, estuary)  we create in the hallways.
The birds will be due on May 20.

MONDAY

Thanks you so much for attending school the whole week of PARCC and now with PARCC behind us we are focusing on MARE(Marine Activities & Research Education)
The third grade studies the wetlands-primarily the plants and birds of the wetlands.
Each student will research a bird(ask them which one they have) and writing a non-fiction book about it.
They will also be creating a model of their bird at home to display in the hallway during Ocean Week.
Directions will follow!

Take Your Child to Work/PARCC

Wow, it sounds like the kids who participated learned a lot!  We had fun hearing about their day.

Next week for PARCC- the kids are ready!  Please review the PARCC Pointers I mentioned on an earlier blog.  The gum must be MINT and will only be allowed during the testing period.  Dress comfortably, but keep in mind the room is chilly.  Bring a book to read if you finish a section early!

We will be testing in the afternoon 12-2:45.  Our lunch will be earlier(11:15), but they can still bring a snack.  We still have specials, so wear sneakers for PE and Family Life (due to testing)days.
We will also continue our novel study of Charlotte's Web  and math review so don't expect homework next week.

Students who opted out, you will be working on your bird research in another room while we are testing.
